Usernames are an important element of Cantina’s platform as they are a unique identifier that helps users recognize and connect with one another. Intentional usernames enable people to have a meaningful experience on the platform, and they can contribute to a sense of community.
To keep our platform safe and welcoming, and due to their visible and permanent nature, we have a policy for acceptable usernames and related conduct. The following guidelines help protect users from harassment, identity theft, and other risks associated with inappropriate or offensive usernames.
Selecting a username
Usernames are available on a first-come, first-served basis. As a result, usernames cannot be reserved or held on inactive accounts for future use. And unlike account names, usernames are permanent.
What violates this policy?

- Username squatting is not allowed. Accounts engaging in this behavior are subject to being renamed or suspended.
- Selling, buying, or soliciting any type of payment or favors in exchange for usernames.
Inappropriate Usernames
- Terms related to illegal or exploitative activity, such as child exploitation or supporting terrorist organizations
- Violence, threats, or hateful conduct
