A voice makes your character feel personal and expressive, and brings them to life in rooms, chats, and videos. You can describe the voice you want, or clone a voice you have permission to use.
When you create a character
The last step of creating a character is Choose Voice. Cantina makes a voice from your character and writes a description of it.
- Tap play to hear the voice. Swipe for more voices.
- To change it, tap the description, edit it (up to 300 characters), and tap Regenerate Voice.
- Tap Continue with Selected Voice, or Clone a Voice to use a recording.
Change your character's voice
- Go to your character's profile and tap Edit.
- Tap Voice.
- Tap the circle to preview the current voice.
- Tap Create Voice to describe a new voice or clone one, or Voice Library to choose a voice you've saved.
Tap Done to save your changes.
Describe a voice
In Voice, tap Create Voice, then Prompt Voice.
Write how your character should sound, like "warm and friendly," "dramatic narrator," or "energetic and high-pitched." If you've already written your character's identity, personality, and backstory, a suggested description fills in for you. Preview the voice, and change the description until it sounds right.
Clone a voice
Cloning makes a copy of a voice so your character can speak with it. Only use your own voice or one you have permission to use.
- In Voice, tap Clone Voice.
- Tap Record Audio, then tap the record button and talk for 8 to 24 seconds. Or tap Upload Video to choose a video from your camera roll, and Cantina uses its audio. Record somewhere quiet.
- Under Select Segment, choose the part of the clip to clone and how many seconds to use.
- Tap Clone, then play the voice to preview it.
- Tap Done.
Tips for a great voice
- Keep it high fidelity. Cantina ends every voice description with "High-fidelity speech quality." Keep that line when you rewrite the description.
- Make it easy to listen to. Pick a voice people will enjoy hearing through a whole video or conversation.
Responsible use
Only create or clone voices you have permission to use. Don't upload someone else's voice without their consent, and avoid prompts that break Cantina's Community Guidelines, including hate speech or other abusive content.
