Messaging and Interactions

Enhance your Cantina experience while expanding your friend group by following other members. 

On iOS and Android

1. Tap the room's name at the top of the room to open the People grid.
2. Tap the avatar of the person you want to follow.
3. From the action sheet that slides up, tap View Profile.
4. On their profile, tap Follow in the top right corner.

On Web

1. Click the room's name at the top of the room to open the People list.
2. Click the avatar of the person you want to follow.
3. Click View Profile.
4. On their profile, click Follow next to Chat.

1. Tap the Search bar.
2. Type the person's name.
3. Under Top Matches or People, tap Follow next to their name.

You can also tap the People tab at the top of the results to filter to just people.

On Web

1. Click the Search bar in the left sidebar.
2. Type the person's name.
3. Click the person you want to follow to open their profile.
4. Click Follow next to Chat.

Follow someone from your Home feed

On iOS

1. Tap their name or avatar.
2. Tap Follow in the top right corner.

On Android

1. Tap their name or avatar.
2. Tap Follow in the top right corner.

On Web

1. Click their name or avatar.
2. Click Follow next to Chat.

 

To manage your invites on iOS:

1. Rooms you are invited to join will appear in the middle of the Home tab. Select Join Room or hit the to decline the invite.

To manage your invites on Android and Web:

1. Rooms you are invited to join or host will appear at the top of the My Rooms tab. Select Join Room or select to decline the invite.

Note: Room invitations will expire in 60 days.

Direct messages (DMs) are private spaces for close friends. You can video, audio, and text chat, play games, and share content just like in a Cantina room. Unlike Cantina rooms, direct messages have no room roles. 

To send a direct message to one member on iOS and Android:

1. Send an individual direct message by tapping on a member’s avatar.
2. Select Send Message (iOS) and Message (Android).
3. Start typing your message. 

To send a direct message to one member on Web:

1. Navigate to the "People" section.
2. Select a member's avatar to send an individual direct message.

To customize who can send you a direct message on iOS and Android: 

1. Navigate to your Profile. 
2. Tap Settings in the top right. 
3. Tap Privacy
4. Decide who can send you message requests.

• • If you choose Everyone on Cantina, you can be messaged or added to groups by everyone except people you've blocked. 
  • If you choose Only People I Follow, you can't be messaged or added to groups by anyone you don't follow.

Note: Customizing your direct messaging is currently unavailable on the web.

To access your direct message on iOS and Android: 

1. Once you create or are added to a direct message, you can access your messages by clicking on People.
2. Select Messages.

To access a direct message to one member on Web:

1. Navigate to the "People" section.
2. Select a member's avatar to send an individual direct message.
