  • About Cantina SMS Messages

    Cantina may send you SMS text messages as part of the Cantina Service. This article explains what messages you might receive and how to manage them.

    What Messages Will I Receive?

    You may receive SMS messages related to your Cantina account, including:

    • Account verification and security codes
    • Notifications about your waitlist status
    • Updates and reminders about accessing the app
    • Messages when friends invite you to connect on Cantina

    Message Frequency

    Message frequency varies based on your account activity. You may receive occasional reminders if you haven't accessed the app yet.

    Costs

    Cantina does not charge for SMS messages. Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply.

    How to Opt Out

    Reply STOP to any Cantina text message to stop receiving SMS. You'll receive a confirmation that you've been opted out.

    Note: Opting out of SMS will not affect your Cantina account. You can still use the app normally.

  • How to Manage Message Notifications

    To customize notifications for Messages on iOS:

    1. Tap your avatar in the top left corner. 
    2. Select Settings.png Settings from the menu.
    3. Tap Notifications.
    4. Tap Messages.
    • Reactions - Get notified when someone reacts to a message you sent
      • Everyone on Cantina
      • Only People I Follow
      • None
    • Replies - Get notified when someone replies to a message you sent
      • Everyone on Cantina
      • Only People I Follow
      • None
    • Message Requests 
      • Toggle on to get notified when someone sends you a message request or adds you to a group.

     

    To customize notifications for Messages on Android:

    1. Tap Profile.png Profile in the bottom right corner.
    2. Tap b7d14800-9fea-4cd2-84ca-4f2fc8149d17 or Settings.pngSettings.
    3. Tap Notifications.
    • Reactions - Get notified when someone reacts to a message you sent
      • Everyone on Cantina
      • Only People I Follow
      • None
    • Replies - Get notified when someone replies to a message you sent
      • Everyone on Cantina
      • Only People I Follow
      • None
    • Message Requests 
      • Toggle on to get notified when someone sends you a message request or adds you to a group.

  • How to Manage Notifications from People

    You can manage notifications from people in Cantina by following the following instructions.

    To customize notifications for People on iOS:

    1. Tap your avatar in the top left corner. 
    2. Select Settings.png Settings from the menu.
    3. Tap Notifications.
    4. Tap People.
    • Contact Joins
      • Toggle on to get notified when someone in your contacts joins the app.
    • New Followers - Get notified when someone follows you
      • Everyone on Cantina
      • Only People I Follow

    NOTE: This feature is currently unavailable on Android and Web.

     

     

  • How to Manage Room Notifications

    Manage the notifications you receive from Cantina by updating your settings to match your preferences. 

    1. SNOOZE ROOM

    To adjust Snooze on iOS and Android:

    1. Inside your room, tap the room name at the top of the screen.
    2. Then tap on _Ellipsis__alt_.png for more. 
    3. Tap Notifications.
    4. Toggle Snooze on will temporarily stop all notifications, but activities will still appear in your activity feed.

    Note: This feature is currently unavailable on the web.

     

    2. CHAT MESSAGES

    To adjust the Chat Message notifications on iOS and Android:

    1. Inside your room, tap the room name at the top of the screen.
    2. Then tap on _Ellipsis__alt_.png for more. 
    3. Tap Notifications.
    4. Under Chat Messages, you can select from the following:
    • Default - The default for the room is Summaries Per User.
    • All Messages - Receive all messages
    • Summary Per User - Receive a summary of chat messages from each user, and full messages when you are mentioned.
    • Summary Per Room - Receive a summary of chat messages for the room, and full messages when you are mentioned.
    • Mentions Only - Receive messages when you are mentioned.
    • None

    To adjust the Chat Message notifications on Web:

    1. Inside your room, click the room name at the top of the screen.
    2. Then click on _Ellipsis__alt_.png and select Edit Room Properties. 
    3. Select Notifications.
    4. Under Chat Messages, you can select from the following:
    • All Messages - Receive all messages
    • Summary Per User - Receive a summary of chat messages from each user, and full messages when you are mentioned.
    • Summary Per Room - Receive a summary of chat messages for the room, and full messages when you are mentioned.
    • Mentions Only - Receive messages when you are mentioned.

     

    3. DOORBELLS

    To adjust Doorbells notifications on iOS and Android:

    1. Inside your room, tap the room name at the top of the screen.
    2. Then tap on _Ellipsis__alt_.png for more. 
    3. Tap Notifications.
    4. Under Doorbells, you can select from the following:
    • Default - The default for the room is All Doorbells.
    • All Doorbells - Receive doorbells from everyone entering the room.
    • Follows and Milestones - Receive doorbells from people you follow and presence milestones.

    To adjust the Chat Message notifications on Web:

    1. Inside your room, click the room name at the top of the screen.
    2. Then click on _Ellipsis__alt_.png and select Edit Room Properties. 
    3. Select Notifications.
    4. Under Doorbells, you can select from the following:
    • All Doorbells - Receive doorbells from everyone entering the room.
    • Follows and Milestones - Receive doorbells from people you follow and presence milestones.

     

    4. SIGNALS

    To adjust Signal notifications on iOS and Android:

    1. Inside your room, tap the room name at the top of the screen.
    2. Then tap on _Ellipsis__alt_.png for more. 
    3. Tap Notifications.
    4. Under Signals, you can select from the following:
    • All Signals
    • Follows Only
    • None

    Note: This feature is currently unavailable on the web.

     

    5. PRESENTED MEDIA

    To adjust the Presented Media notification on iOS and Android:

    1. Inside your room, tap the room name at the top of the screen.
    2. Then tap on for more. 
    3. Tap Notifications.
    4. Under Signals, you can select from the following:
    • All Presents
    • Follows Only
    • None

    Note: This feature is currently unavailable on the web.

     

    6. ROOM UPDATES

    To adjust Room Updates notifications  on iOS and Android:

    1. Inside your room, tap the room name at the top of the screen.
    2. Then tap on _Ellipsis__alt_.png for more. 
    3. Tap Notifications.
    4. Toggle Room Updates on if you want to be notified when important room properties are changed, such as name, topic, or privacy settings.
