Room Moderation 101
Founders, Admins, and Hosts of public rooms in Cantina are responsible for moderating their rooms to ensure adherence to Cantina’s Community Guidelines. It is crucial to address any violations that occur promptly. As Founders and Admins, you must issue warnings and immediately report violators in your public rooms for appropriate enforcement. Failure to do so may result in the public room being removed from Discover and Admins receiving a suspension.
Your active involvement in enforcing and timely reporting is essential in maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all Cantina users. Here are some best practices for protecting your room:
Understand the Community Guidelines: Familiarize yourself with Cantina’s Community Guidelines and ensure you clearly understand what is allowed and what is not.
Warning examples:
- Let's keep the chat room positive and respectful by following our Community Guidelines, or you will be removed from the room.
- Your behavior is not aligning with Cantina guidelines. Please adjust it, or you will be removed from the room.
- Your conduct goes against our Community Guidelines. Please ensure a friendly and inclusive environment for everyone involved, or you will be removed from the room.
- Your actions have disrupted the peace and respectful atmosphere of the room. Another offense will result in your immediate removal.
Promptly address violations: Act swiftly when you encounter any content or behavior violating our guidelines. Take appropriate action, such as issuing warnings, removing or blocking the user from the room, flagging violations, or escalating the issue if necessary.
Be consistent and fair: Apply moderation rules consistently to all users and content, regardless of their status or relationship to you. Treat everyone fairly and avoid any favoritism or bias.
Foster a positive environment: Encourage respectful and constructive discussions within your community. Set a positive tone by being polite, welcoming and encouraging users to interact respectfully with one another.
Communicate guidelines clearly: Clearly communicate the guidelines and expectations to users in your room. Make them aware of the consequences of violating the guidelines.
Utilize moderation tools: Use the available moderation tools provided to help manage and control the content within your room effectively. These tools include:
- Revoking mic and camera access
- Remove or Ban the User from the room
- Report the user to Cantina’s Moderation team to review for severe violations
- Change room Visibility to ‘Contacts of Members’ or ‘Members Only’ if you’re unable to moderate your room at all times
Stay informed: Stay updated with changes to Cantina’s Community Guidelines and policies. Regularly check for notifications or updates from the platform administrators.
Seek assistance when needed: Don't hesitate to seek help or guidance from Cantina’s Moderation team when faced with challenging situations or if you need further clarification on specific issues.
Remember, moderation is crucial for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all users within your room. You should ensure that you have proper staffing of admins and hosts to moderate the space. If you cannot moderate your room at all times, consider recruiting engaged members as potential admins and hosts to help moderate the room in your absence.
If you're not able to recruit new admins and hosts immediately no problem! Consider changing room visibility to "Contacts of Members" or even changing accessibility to ‘Invite Only’ in order to limit the amount of new people who may join at any given time until you can recruit members to help. -
