Trust and authenticity are essential to a healthy community. Cantina does not allow deceptive conduct that misleads users, disrupts the platform, or undermines enforcement of our Community Guidelines.
This includes impersonation, coordinated inauthentic behavior, ban evasion, and the misuse of bots or AI-generated content to deceive others.
What is misleading or deceptive conduct?
An account, bot, or asset may be considered deceptive if it:
- Misrepresents its identity, affiliation, or purpose
- Attempts to confuse others about who is operating it
- Uses false information in a way that meaningfully misleads or manipulates users
- Exists primarily to evade enforcement or platform safeguards
An account’s identity includes its username (@handle), display name, profile image, bio, and associated bots.
What Violates This Policy?
Impersonation
You may not pose as another individual, organization, brand, or public figure in a way that is intended to confuse, deceive, or imply an unauthorized affiliation or endorsement. This includes impersonation carried out through usernames, profiles, bots, or AI-generated media.
Deceptive or manipulative fake identities
While Cantina allows pseudonymous accounts, you may not use fabricated identities to:
- Carry out fraud or financial scams
- Spread coordinated disinformation
- Manipulate civic or political processes
- Harass, intimidate, or target others
-
Mislead users about the source of content
Accounts created primarily for deceptive or disruptive purposes may be removed.
Coordinated inauthentic behavior
We prohibit the use of multiple accounts, bots, or coordinated activity to:
- Artificially amplify content
- Misrepresent popularity (i.e. leaderboards) or support (post engagement)
- Harass or intimidate others
- Evade moderation systems
Ban Evasion
You may not attempt to circumvent enforcement actions by:
- Creating new accounts after suspension
- Using alternate accounts to access restricted features or rooms
- Sharing accounts or soliciting access to another user’s account to avoid enforcement
Attempts to bypass safeguards may result in permanent account termination.
What is not a violation of this policy?
Cantina allows pseudonymous participation. Accounts are not required to use real names or images.
An account does not violate this policy solely because:
- It uses a nickname or pseudonym
- It resembles another account without intent to deceive
- It engages in clearly labeled parody, satire, or fictional roleplay
We assess violations based on context, intent, and impact.
Reporting deceptive accounts
If you believe an account is impersonating you or your organization, you or your authorized representative may submit a report. If you believe an account is using a deceptive identity more generally, you may report it directly from the account’s profile.
In cases where an account is suspected of misusing a specific individual or entity’s identity, we may need more information to determine whether the account is run or authorized by the entity portrayed in the profile. To ensure we have enough context, we may need a report from the portrayed party or their authorized representative in order to take action.
